About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy about how he's never been able to get married. He's always been anemic, he says, and now he can't even get married because he has too much stuff going on in his life. He asks Tsubaki if she's playing the piano, and she tells him that she doesn't play the piano because it's all she has . They talk about how happy everyone is at the school, and he asks if there's anything he can do to make her happy. She says that she'd like to take a picture with him, but he'll have to wait until the district nationals to do so. He says that he and his kaori are going to breeze through the competition, and that everyone will love him. They're going to be the best team in the district, and they'll be able to play at the nationals. He wants to know how he can get so fired up, and says that everyone is trying to tear him away from the piano so that he won't have to play it anymore. The piano is the only thing that keeps him from playing the violin, and everyone else wants to be a part of it, too, but at the same time, they're tearing each other away from each other. This is a big, big disaster, and the people in the school will never forget him. He promises to remember this until he dies.
