The chapter opens with Yudai, who has just returned from a trip to the United States. He's excited to see his friend, but he's not sure how to react to the sight of him in a school uniform. He asks Yudai to show him where they are on the map, but Yudai doesn't know where to go. He tells Yudai that he'll find them on the right-hand side of the map. Yudai says that he thinks Yudai is a "disappointment" in the eyes of high school prospects because he'd rather go to a "women's college" than a "cohort prospects" school like mori shin. He also says that Yudai's cousin, Shu-Ei, is making his high-school debut. He says that Shu is "half-japannese" and that they used to be friends back in the states. He adds that Shu-Yudai is "practically my best friend" .
