The chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which Hirokazu and Aoyama discuss the possibility of their meeting again. Hirokaze says that he would like to know what the matter is, since he's worried about his feelings for Yuta. He also wants to know if there's anything he can do to help her, since she's been staring at him all this time. He wants to give her a fastball, but she doesn't want to hear it, so he tells her about the military's definition of the rock as a "life form" , which means that it's a place where people live and die. The narrator says that the military has conducted many autopsies of its soldiers, but there are also many other eyewitness testimonies that never make it into the public record. So, the narrator says, there are a lot of people who don't really know about the rock, but just pretend to not know about it. He's afraid that Yuta is being treated the same way, and he wants to make sure that he and Hirokazuku are not the only ones who have been treated this way. He tells them that nami has been training at home, and that she has to go to school all the time, so she can't go see a guy.
