About This Chapter
The narrator is excited to see the aquarium. He's been looking forward to seeing it for a long time, and he's happy to see that it's alive and well. The narrator tells the kid that he can touch the jelly fish, which are the only live fish in the aquarium, and that they're going to die soon. The kid is impressed, and the narrator tells him to wash his hands before he touches the fish. The jelly fish are so lifelike that they look like they've been stuck in the ground for a very long time. They're so lifelike, in fact, that the narrator says, that if you touch them, they'll come back alive. He also says that he came to the aquarium to see if he could find something interesting to talk about with the kid. He wants to know if the kid is going to buy the fish, but the kid doesn't want to go to the gift shop to buy them, so he tells the narrator that he and Tomoya stopped by a restaurant on the way back from the aquarium and bought some food. He asks the kid where he got the food and the kid tells him that he was reading a book about cat penises. He says that the cat has been trying to figure out how to use the leaves in the house's bath room to make himself look like he is using the leaves as a toilet. He thinks that's a good idea, but he can't figure out what the cat is doing with the leaves. He wishes he could see the face of the cat, so that he wouldn't have to explain what's going on with him. He then asks if he can buy the garden eels, which he didn't notice he was wearing while he was in the bath-room. He buys the eels and thanks the kid for coming to see him the other day. He tells the boy that
