The next morning, the Governess thanks everyone for their hospitality. She says that she's glad that things are back to normal, but that she can't help but feel a little uneasy about what's going on between her and her husband. She's not sure what to make of the way things are going between the two of them, but she knows that she doesn't want to do anything to harm them. The Governess tells her husband that she wants to know why he's there, and he says that it's because he wants her to leave him alone. She tells him that she has been wearing a collared shirt all day, and that's why they're in his room. She asks him to let her go, but he refuses to listen to her. He says that they can go all the way to the other side of the room if they want to, and she agrees. He tells her that he likes her because she just kind of touches him, and it makes her feel happy. He asks her to look at the shape of his "bite mark," and she says that he could tell a lot from it, but not from it. He's fine with that.
