About This Chapter
The next morning, the narrator tells us that he's heard a lot about how Akari feels about her marriage. He says that he was present when Akari proposed to Hiroyuki, and that he thinks it's a logical step for her to marry him. He adds that he used to date Akari in middle school, and they used to be first in a lot of ways. The narrator says he likes Hiroyuki to wait a sec, but that he would like to see them get to know each other better in high school. He also says he'd like to be angry with Akari for being angry with him, but only for one reason: he wants her to be able to cry on him, to send him texts, or to harass him with his writing. He's sure that he can count on her not to do anything to hurt Akari, and he hopes she won't come to him to do so. He thanks her for the night's sleep, and says that Akari didn't seem to act like she was out of her plum kelp tea when they slept together the other night. He tells her that he feels guilty for sleeping with Hiroyuki the night before, and wonders how he can feel sorry for himself. He asks her why she brings up the subject of Hiroyuki's sleeping with her, and she says that she's just been reading a book and feels sorry for herself.
