The group catches up with the monkeys, who are still trying to find the girl. The apes insist that they are not demons, but real animals. The group tries to stop them, but the monkeys are too scared to do so. They jump down the side of the cliff where the apes had taken the girl, but they cannot hear the monkeys. The monkeys are hungry, so they wait for the girl to wake up. When she does wake up, they find that she has gone to the temple the very same day that it collapsed. They wonder if the rumors about demons eating humans are true. The seal seems to be fine, and the smell of the island is too good to be true.
