The taoist tells Tanaka that he was able to create a god tree by learning some divination techniques from a man from his homeland. He asks Tanaka if he can help him with his abilities. Tanaka asks if this year will be his lucky year, and he replies that he hasn't yet returned from his trip to the east. He then asks if the symbol on his wooden plaque means anything to him. He says that he has seen the symbol before, but he doesn't know where it came from. He wants to find out the origin of it so that he can figure out why he came to Japan.
