It's been a little over a month since the first scene, and we're told that the narrator and his friend have been trying to learn something new by imitating someone else's behavior. The narrator says that he's tried it over and over, but that he hasn't gotten anything out of it. He's learned nothing about his crush, Katherine, and that she's a childhood friend of Katherine's. Oh, and he also doesn't seem to like the fact that they're in the same college club, which means they've been hanging out together for a while now. Katherine is totally freaked out by this whole thing. She's worried that the guy is going to bully her into embarrassing herself in front of him, and she wants to do something about it. But the narrator isn't having any of it - he wants to continue the conversation.
