The next morning, Hero Cui wakes up and realizes that he has to act fast in order to erase the memory of the dead woman before she reaches the afterlife. He decides to erase her memory by reading her thoughts, so that she will not be able to remember what she saw in the afterlife when she reaches it. He then runs away from the group of guests who have gathered at the teacher's house. He tells them that they are about to leave, but he is too drunk to say a word. He says that his hand is stained with blood, and he is sorry that they have waited so long. He is worried that if he does not act quickly, he will have to resort to cannibalism.
