This chapter opens with the voice of the ghost in the figurine. It is Lin, the author of the poem, and the voice is that of nan, the editor. Lin asks nan if the ghost is a henpecked husband, and nan replies that it is too late for the ghost to finish reading the poem. Lin wonders if nan is really a teacher, and he wonders if she is as frightened and insane as jiezhou. He wonders why the ghost sees the blue moon and prays, and wonders if the fairy is more powerful than the ghost. Lin tells nan to hurry and tell the ghost everything, and then he asks if she has any clues. nan tells the ghost that she should thank the teacher for helping her, and Lin says that he will never forget the day when he was released from the king's curse. He says that every affair that deals with the forces of spirit and demon will only bring bad luck to the human race
