The narrator and his wife are on their way home from work when suddenly they hear someone running down the road. The narrator is horrified and runs to the back of the car to warn his wife, who has just dropped her cigarette. He tells her to be careful because he has some business to get done. He says that he shouldn't tell his wife about his situation since he doesn't need to be too worried about it. He then tells his wife that he's going back to work. He's not worried about his wife's safety, he says, because she's just going to want to see him. He asks his wife if she'd like an ambulance, and she says she would, but she fainted and needed an ambulance. He wants to know if the girl is okay. She says that she feels guilty and embarrassed that she accidentally exposed the girl. She wants to try her brother's "goblin jumper cables" on him, but he says he can't let himself be seen by the girl because it's too dangerous to be seen in this state. He also says that if he takes the girl hostage, he'll have to make some "adjustments" to the plan.
