About This Chapter
The school kid is starting to lose his cool. He's starting to feel like he's a guilty man. He can't stand the idea of being punished for something he didn't do. He wants the school kid to go away and be punished for the crime he committed. He doesn't care if the kid is innocent or guilty. It's unacceptable to break school rules to set a fire, he says, and he wants the kid to stop torturing the students. The kid is just a mortal, he tells us. He feels like he just woke up after a dream. He asks the kid why they stayed at school when they could have stayed home and read the book they were supposed to have returned from the library the day before.
