When the narrator wakes up, he's in a bad mood. He's just fallen asleep in the shower, and he can't stop thinking about how he wants to get out of the shower and have sex with his girlfriend. He wants to know what she's going to do about it, and what she can do to make him feel better. He tells her that he just wants to make sure that she doesn't have to go through with the sex act, and that he can do something about it himself if he feels like it. He says that he'll tell her what to do, and then he can go to his boss and ask him to stop the sex. The narrator says that's a good idea, but then he realizes that his boss is busy, too, so maybe he can make him stop. He also says that maybe he could tell his boss to stop either of the sex acts, or he could go to him and tell him that he needs to stop. Sounds like a good plan, right? The narrator tells his boss that he got a call saying that his child had gotten hurt, and she needs to go now. She says that she hasn't finished the bag-ging up yet, so she'll bring her kids back with her. She'll work late, but she'd rather work late than be late. She tells her boss that she needs him to hurry and go, but that she can come back later if she wants. She also tells him that she wants to be her boss's confidante, since her boss isn't just good at his job, but also "cheerful and mind-ful" of everyone around her. He asks her to look out for her, because he needs her
