About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the martial arts are very important to the state, especially to the cavalry. We also learn that in order to be admitted to the academy, a candidate must pass an archery test. The test is very long, and it takes two people to draw the same bow as the other candidates. We learn that this iron wood bow weighs almost as much as a refined steel bow, and that it is very difficult to draw it with only one man. This is why the test is so long. The man who has brought the iron wood bows asks the man if he is on purpose, and the man answers that he is showing off a precious bow. He tells the man to look around and see what is going on, and then asks him to let him move a little farther away from the targets. This will allow him to get a better look at the targets, and he will be able to tell if the man is really on purpose or not. He is amazed that the man would want to show off such a precious item, and wonders why he is doing this. He says that he saw the unhappy martial arts academy and that he challenged the man and lost to him, but that he has not yet been admitted into the academy. The worst consequence of not being admitted is that he does not get admitted to
