He is very disappointed in his brother for having invited his friends to the banquet, and he plans to hold a banquet for all of them. He tells the audience that his wife is in a coma, and that she is being haunted by "vengeance spirits" . The audience is also told that a curfew has been imposed for the night, and Mr. and Mrs. situ discuss the possibility of going to the chun-fang house, which is open only at night.
