The next morning, the doctor arrives at the house to find that the whole town is convinced that his wife is the murderer, and that the two taoists have been bribed by the doctor. The doctor refuses to give his wife any medicine, and the brother-in-law is furious. He tells the doctor that he will leave the next day to find a doctor in the city who can cure his wife's disease.
