In this chapter, we learn that the soldiers are not afraid of the undead, and that they are learning to fight from each other. We also learn that this is the first time that they have encountered a creature that is not a zombie. This creature is a "level two lickker," a type of monster that evolved from a level one "lickker." It is faster, stronger, and more resistant than a normal lickker, and it can even make a zombie work for it. The crystal nucleus in the monster's body is upgraded to a level three, making it even more lethal.
