The next morning, the Governess goes to visit her niece, who has returned home from school. The Governess tells her that she has been chased out of school by the other students, and that she will return to school. When she finds out that her niece has gone back to school, she is very upset. She tells her niece that she is not allowed to go to school because she is a "class president," and that her aunt will not allow her to go back to her house. She also tells her about the time that she and her niece went to the washroom together, and she is upset that they are not allowed back to the school because there is no class president. She asks her niece why she followed her when she was so smart, and when she tells him that she was chased out before, he responds that he is not smart enough to fight her. He also tells his niece that he only slept nine hours last night and that he has used up three hours of his time in the country. He asks his niece if she has had dinner, and her name is "pi juho," which means "sweetheart." She tells him she has not had dinner in a week, and asks him if he has had a good night's sleep. He replies that he did, and then he asks her why she came to the country in the middle of the night, when it is so cold. He tells her she is glad they could find her aunt's home, because he would have gone to school if he had not been able to find her home.
