The Governess comes to lunch at the Governor's office. She asks the Governess why she came to the office, and he tells her that it was a "gesture of reconciliation" . She tells him that she has passed her "stormy period of puberty" and that it is time to "get on well" with him. He asks if he is doing any interrogation in the afternoon, and she says that if his father hears of this, "he will be mad" , so she tells him to come back the next day. She says that she will not blame him if he catches a cold, as she is not a "fake nice person"
