The next morning, Oswald wakes up late. He asks Oswald if he's been drinking, and Oswald says he hasn't. He's not drunk, he says, because he was careless the night before. He tells Oswald that his mother was also careless, and that's why he saved Oswald and his mother. Oswald is angry, and he accuses his father of being a liar. He accuses Oswald's mother of lying, too, and accuses Oswald of being the same as his father. Oswald says that his father is a good person, but that his wife is too good a person for him. He says that he'll have to make a big fuss about it in the morning, but he doesn't know how to do it. When Oswald asks if his mom was happy when she was young, she says that she was, but she was twenty-five or six years old. Oswald thinks that his family is weird, and says he will take the train to get home.
