In this chapter, Vannie tells us that she's been hanging out with the other guys at the docks. She's bummed that they're not having a good time, but she still wants to hang out with them. She tells them that they shouldn't be hanging around "humiliating men" . Vannie asks if they'd like to have a drink together, and they all agree that they should. They're all drunk, and Vannie says that he's the only one who hasn't had a drink in a long time.
