About This Chapter
Back on the ship, Captain Donnithorne finds some leftover bacon and devours it. He tells Vannie that he's going to celebrate the end of the war with the rest of the crew. Vannie tells him not to worry, because they've got orders not to allow anyone to come near Lady Vanabelle. He's got a message for her: she can't come anywhere near him or anyone else on board the ship. He orders everyone to get masks and masks on so they won't be able to talk to her. He also tells Vannithorne that he once gave him a tour of the ship and that he was always looking for a way out of the cabin. He says that Vannie was always trying to get him to drink, but Vannie wouldn't let him do it. When he got used to flying, he got altitude sickness. He tried to hide it so no one would find him. He even tried to pretend that he couldn't because he didn't want to look like he was drinking too much. But Vannie never stopped looking out for him, even when he wasn't drinking. When Vannie woke up, he realized that half of his dream was true: the war ended and the arena was back at peace again. He started a lemonade business, which was a huge hit. Then, when he woke up from his dream, half of it had come true: he had a small fortune.
