In this chapter, we learn that Buxiao, the prince's son, is now sick with plague, and he offers to cure the prince in exchange for peace talks. The prince, however, is not willing to part with his son. He says that the prince has been getting too close to the commoners, and that now that he is sick, he is no different from them. The Prince says that if the prince wants to die, he should do so in the service of the country. He tells the prince that he will all die in this place, and the prince agrees to help him out. The two men discuss the possibility of a rift between them, but the prince says that they will not be able to do so now that the Prince is sick. The protagonist says that he has a minor problem, but he is still the protagonist. He wants to know why they are still alive, and how they came to be. He thinks that the ability to travel back in time would have made him the chosen one, but then he realizes that they are not alive anymore. He decides to stab the prince, and swears that if anything should happen to his sister, she will not let him off the hook.
