In this chapter, we are introduced to the protagonist, who is the son of a wealthy, well-to-do family. His father is a powerful man, and his mother is a stern and domineering woman. The protagonist's mother, however, does not approve of her son's relationship with his father. She tells him that he is a nuisance to his family, and that he should be careful not to interfere in his father's business affairs.
