About This Chapter
Whoosh wakes up, and the guardian deity tells him to drink the medicine. The guardian deity explains that he is using spirit energy in order to help restore the vitality of the man who was with him. The man is seriously injured, and he is afraid to see him hurt, so he is going to grab medicine for him. He tells the man that his name is Mu Su, the guardian of the lake. He explains that the lake is just a gateway to the divine world, and that the humans have no wish to go there. The mirror lake is the last place for humans to go because the gods have laid traps to prevent them from entering. He asks the guardian to tell him how to escape the traps, but the guardian refuses to break the rules, saying that he will prepare food for the man after he recovers from his injury.
