The three boys decide to go for a walk. They're worried about the little boy, who's a member of the merchant family. He's so delicate that they don't think he'll be able to pass through a dangerous part of the bridge without being scared. They decide to run around the bridge and see who is the first to get across. The boy is so scared that he doesn't even know where he's at. The father and mother run off to look for the boy, but the boy is back. His father tells him that he will find a way to keep him under surveillance the next day. He tells his mother that if she can't pass the imperial test, the merchants will be inferior. He also tells her that she needs to focus on her studies starting tomorrow.
