The monk tells the fox that he killed his brothers because he is a demon. The monk says that he is unable to leave the temple because of his bone disease. The fox says that even if he were to leave, he would not be able to do so because he still has to stay at the temple. He tells the monk that his brothers have been killed by a "furry beast" right outside the door. He asks the monk where the beast is and the monk says he does not know.
