About This Chapter
This chapter's epigraph is from a poem called "Clang clang clang less." It's a poem about a ghost chained down by a dead body. The dead body is a symbol of death, and the ghost is symbolized by the dead body's head, which is burned by the ghost's flame for nine seconds. The poem is about a man who wants to get his hands on a weapon, but he can't find one. He's anaemic, which means he doesn't have the energy to cultivate. He needs to find a way to supplement his body with blood and nutrients. Luckily, he's found a pharmacy in town that sells blood-revitalizing medicines. He asks if there's any medicine that will help him with his anemia. The pharmacy tells him that it's called "Wuji-baifeng-wan," which means "blood-restoring medicine" . It also says that it can be used to regulate menstrual cycle and to regulate the flow of blood in women. The only thing that makes this medicine useful to him is that it helps regulate his menstrual cycle. This is the only medicine that makes sense to him.
