The scene opens with a conversation between Linan and Anan. Linan tells Anan that he has been badgered all morning by a "snobbish" man at school. He is grateful to Anan for his help in treating Linan's wound. Anan tells him that he is welcome at the hospital. He asks the doctor if there is anything he can do to help Linan. The doctor says that there is no such thing as an illness that he cannot cure. He then tells the story of an elderly man who gave Linan some food and taught him his ancestral medicine skills in return.
