In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist's skills are not nearly as impressive as they once were, and that he's ready to face off against the undead horde. He's confident that he can defeat them all at once, and he declares that he is going to "come into another fortune" once again. He compares the undead to a lottery ticket, where points can be won and lost at will, and points can even be won or lost at random. He says that the arena is a great place to score points, because it's full of fast-moving undead. He asks Supervisor Wu why the undead are so weak, and the supervisor replies that they are all "elite mutant zombies" . The protagonist says that he feels that the zombies are giving him a strange feeling, and wonders why they are so powerful. He suggests that they hide in the cabin and treat the wounds of the wounded woman. He tells the protagonist to come in quickly, because he is so powerful that he has just witnessed a "mutant zombie" transform into a "super elite mutant zombie." The protagonist exclaims that the transformation is the first he has ever witnessed, and says that this is the "first time i have seen a mutant zombie transformation." He then attacks the undead with his fists, saying that it will take him a lot of strength to defeat both the undead and the miscellaneous soldiers.
