In the second district, Renfield leads the other guards to a safe room where they can hide out. Renfield asks one of the guards if he has seen his granddaughter, who has gone to get food. She hasn't returned, and Renfield is afraid that she won't find him, so he sneaks back. He tells Renfield that he's the grandpa of the little girl from the previous day, and that if something happens to her, they should tell him that she's his granddaughter and that they're going to try to find him. The guards are horrified at the number of zombies that have come out of their hiding place. They head to the first floor, where there's a safe place to hide. When they get there, they find that the bat has been broken, and they have to run away.
