The next day, they still come late. Looking at the wound on Tom's body, they wonder why he came at midnight. They wonder if the darkness caused Tom to stab him before his death, or if he was set up by someone who wanted to mislead them. They can't tell anyone about it yet, because they'll be the first people suspected of death. They're starting to think about why someone would want to kill others, and they're getting some clues. One of the first clues is that gambling master showed up and became leader of the island, and everyone was willing to kill seven people if his guess was right. The seven people should be loyal to the gambling master, because he's more powerful than the island's people. The problem is that these two are too naive to understand that there's a traitor among them, and that they should assemble all the people to find out who that traitor is. They don't understand that the island doesn't have enough food to feed everyone, so they need to ask people if they'd like to become allies with them.
