This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the previous chapter, where the protagonist is playing the dice in order to win some money. The protagonist tells his friends that he has won some money and that he wants them to stay and protect him until tomorrow. He tells them that he is going back to the island because he does not want to be insulted.
