The chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which Miles and lucia are still in love. Miles asks lucia if she wants to divorce him so he can change into a male avatar. lucia replies that she does not want to divorce Miles, but she does want to marry him. Miles says that he does not have the time to go through the motions of divorce, so he leaves the room and walks to the wedding hall
