The Emperor asks the dowager to bring him a reward for his conjugal victory. The Emperor says that he has won, but there is one more condition: he has to pick one of the five items in his place. The first item is a sword, the second a phoenix seal, the third a gold plate, the fourth a death jade seal, and the fifth an inlaid silver bracelet with a blue agate. If he chooses the wrong one, the Emperor says, then he can blame him for not picking the right one. He thanks the Emperor for giving him such a good reward, and says he will take a walk with him. He asks the Emperor if he would like to meet him for a while, but he says that ultimate honor and power cannot bring many fears and doubts. He says that the only thing that can reassure the Emperor and the Dowager is to choose the one with the silver bracelet.
