The next morning, the Governess comes to visit her husband. She tells him that she has come to check on his health, but that she cannot see the mark of his wounds because of the thick fog. The Governess tells the woman that she is going to confess, and that she will leave immediately if she does not leave. She says that it is acceptable for her husband's new vice-cubine to be arrogant and perverse.
