In this short scene, the protagonist is introduced to his new teacher, who introduces himself as "Baba" and asks the protagonist to borrow his notes when he has them. The protagonist says he is tired of studying and wishes he had more money to buy new books, but he can't because he is bored. He wonders how he can eat in such a dusty place as the one where he eats lunch every day. When the protagonist asks if he is the type who reads manga, the teacher replies that he is not the type that reads manga. He says that he does not want to talk about the subject with anyone else because he has to worry about the tests first. The teacher tells the protagonist that it is summer break and that he should go to the Dojinshi convention to learn more. He tells her that he has been wanting to do this for a long time but he has not been able to do it because he was too busy at home. He asks her if she would like to try it too, but she says that she would not be able to because she has a 2 in economics and art. She tells him that if he tries it, he might like it, and if he has some thing easier to do with his life, he would like it. He sighs and says he wants to go and see the convention.
