About This Chapter
"It's time... you age complex... all this nonsense... up... give that back" , says the narrator. He and his father have known about it for years, but they've kept their opinions to themselves. He asks how old is she, and she says she's 26 years old. The narrator says she is a grown woman, but she dresses like a child. He says she should just stay home and do the same things day in and day out. He tells her she can't live her life like that, because she'll never be able to tell him how to live his life. She's sorry, he says, but it's not her fault. She says she knows that this day will come, and that she always knew it would come. She asks him if he would get something, and he says he would, but that he'd never get anything from her. He invites her to come in and play some catch with him, and then he asks her why she didn't say something sooner. She tells him she was going out for a walk, and when he asks where she got the glove, she says it was so old that she couldn't find it. He's shocked, because he's never seen her yell like that before. He then asks if she would think he was mad, and if he was angry, and the narrator tells him that she threw all of her dreams away after she threw them away.
