Since the moment she met her mother, Sawako was always beautiful in her elaborate dresses. One can't save just one, she says. She threw away all of her dreams. She splashed all of them with water, but they burned brightly. She says she's off to work for a few days, and she thanks her husband for his kind words. He says he'll be back soon, and they have another homemade lunch. Sawako says she doesn't think her husband is that big on cooking, but he says it's a good thing he's been doing it for weeks. They sit down for dinner, and Sawako tells her that she has a lot of work to do, but she has time to do it. She tells her husband that she used to be a materialistic woman, but now she is an "economical woman" . She asks him if he likes spending time with her, and he says he does, but that he'd rather stay in bed and watch the world go by
