In this chapter, Longjiu tells the reader that he has been away from the city for some time. He says that William's temper is so short that those who compromise must compromise and those who smile must smile too. He thinks that William should live alone and build his own band of friends. Longjiu says that if he had compromised with everything, he could have gotten it long ago. He believes that from now on, William will no longer be a member of the band. He tells Longjiu that he is the only one who asked William for the reason why he laughed at him, and he says that he was the exception to the rule. He feels that he deserves to see William, but he doesn't want to now.
