This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter. In this flashback, the narrator tells the reader that he is a student at a high school near the prison where he is being held. He tells the audience that he has grown tired of the "ridiculous dreams" of his youth and that he must give up his "dreams" and follow his heart. He reminds the reader to follow his "heart" and believes that he can "follow my heart" .
