In this chapter, we are introduced to a number of characters who are introduced for the first time in the novel. One of these characters is a young man who has been introduced in the previous chapter. He is introduced in this chapter as a "challenger." The challenger challenges the young man to a game of hide-and-seek. The young man loses, and the challenger leaves.
