The narrator says that he will not tell anyone about his lie, but he will keep it a secret. He adds that his mother is back at the door, chatting with little liang. Uncle Li is there, too, and he says that after they had children, they returned to their "regular" life. He tells the narrator that he is telling the truth, because no matter how "glamorous" the family is in others eyes, he is really telling it the truth. He asks if he can cut class with him today, and the narrator says yes.
