In this chapter, we learn that the Governess's friend, William , is very interested in the idea of a man with the shape of an "astronaut" . The Governess asks William to come talk to her about the possibility of such a man being able to "control the middle ground." The two men discuss the fact that they are both good at making other people angry, and William replies that he is the one who cares the most about making people angry.
