Back in the storeroom, the two of them reminisce about the days when they were students together. They used to hang out together and have sex, but they didn't get along very well. One day, when he was in high school, he beat her with a baseball bat, and she beat him with a tennis racket the next day. Now that she's back from the gym, she beat the heck out of him again. She's stronger than ever, and he's the one who beat her. They're sitting in the middle of the candle-lit room, and they're talking about how much they love each other. It turns out that he used to have a crush on her, but she never mentioned it to him. She never even mentioned that she had a boyfriend, so she almost forgot about it. The storeroom is crawling with spiders, and the only place she can think of to hide them is behind the door. She can't stop thinking about the night when she saw the man she was supposed to meet with, and how he looked like a "civil-looking beast" when he passed her name on his way to the lake. She wonders why the man would drop all his work for her, since he hasn't even met her for a year. She wants to know if she really likes him, and why he would be willing to do all the cooking for her every day. He's such a "blurrary image" , she says, and yet he still looks like a civil-looking "beast" . The only thing that can stop her from running away with him is if he comes running to save her, and that's what he'll do.
