In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character named tian. He is a young man who has come to live with his girlfriend and his grandmother in a remote part of the country. Worried about his girlfriend's safety, tian takes her to her house, where they will spend the night in a single room. He explains that the town of Minyu is governed by the "xilan mountain god" , who hates people who do not follow the rules of the community. He tells tian to follow him, otherwise, he won't be able to get the help he needs if something happens to him. tian also tells wan that the Minyu River is the main source of drinking water for the town. wan asks tian if he wants to drink some more water, and tian says he can't because he's tired of drinking the weird drinks . They continue on their way, wan exclaiming over the beauty of the scenery and the many animals that live in the forest. He wants to take a picture with tian, so tian tells him to come and take one with him. The bug that wan is seeing is crawling on tian's body, and he begs wan to help him.
