In this chapter, we learn that the patriarch has arranged all of this for the purpose of getting the two of them into the enemy's camp. The patriarch arranged it so that they would be able to get into the enemies' camp, and so that he and the patriarch could get into each other's camps. Now that he's done with the patriarch, the patriarch should kill the guy who's been trying to get him into their camp. He's too suspicious of the patriarch to do anything about it.
