This chapter opens with a description of the inner room of the snake's hall. It is described as a "magnificent space" with "the countless stacks of formation and spells" in it. The blacksmith who traveled to the snake kingdom explains that he was deeply affected by the spirit of sacrifice and justice in the heavenly kingdom. If he can pass the final test, he will not only become the new king of the heavenly, but he will also be able to use the "heart-recalled jade" in the hall to test his knowledge of the "heavenly secret" . He says that the heart recalling the jade will make use of "the thing that you cannot let go of" , but if he does not want to use it, he can send him out of the heaven pit. This chapter ends with a soliloquy on the subject of heaven. The narrator says that he has not seen the supreme palace in a long time, but that he is no longer his brother lingfeiyang, but the master of lord realm and head of supreme palace. He calls feiyang a "worthless i'm not your brother-ling . . the king of heaven" and says that heaven's secret is "three inch starlight". He adds that he will execute the secret by himself.
