This chapter opens with a flashback to a time long ago, when the mo-sleuths were planning to transform the world into a land where they could live without the need of skin. The narrator tells us that he has a great deal of spiritual energy, which is why he is so excited about the new altar. He explains that the former emperor of heaven used to have a seven-aperture core, which he says is the "unmatched gift for cultivation" . The seven aperture core was a "symbiotic relationship" between the emperor and his heart. The former emperor's body was destroyed during the siege of heaven, and his spirit has been wandering around the world for thousands of years. He says that the arrangement of the altar is clearly a sign that the devil god is going to summon him. He tells the narrator that he will not let the damned dragon "get in the way" of his plan. He promises to get him the seven- petal flower in the next three days. Three days later, the red light from the blood moon will shine on all corners of wuzhen land.
